Rules & Regulations
On roads where the speed limit is 35mph or less, Sanibel low-speed vehicles (LSVs) are permitted. This is ideal for Sanibel Island, where no roads exceed 35mph. The City of Sanibel equips all vehicles with an official “B” non-resident parking permit, which allows drivers to avoid $5 per hour parking fees at public parking lots at Sanibel beaches.
While you can drive a cart to the beach, you cannot drive them on the beach, bike paths, or the Sanibel causeway. With these exceptions, you can drive just about anywhere else! The minimum age to rent an LSV is 21 years.

Prices vary according to the amount of time you are renting, with prices decreasing as your rental period increases. Sample prices include $150 for a 4-seat one-day rental and $700 for a one-week rental period ($100 per day).
