The Sanibel Arts Community will be in full swing on Thursday, December 12 from 5 – 8 pm with Art Under the Stars. This holiday open house is a collaboration among Tower Gallery, Hirdie Girdie Gallery, and Suncatchers’ Dream.
If you haven’t attended before, it is a terrific night to find unique and interesting presents, and to enjoy refreshments, entertainment and visiting with the artists. Hirdie Girdie and Tower Galleries are right next door on Tarpon Bay Road. Suncatchers’ Dream is a quick walk or drive along Tarpon Bay Road to the Olde Sanibel Shoppes.
Tower Gallery is an artists’ cooperative consisting of 23 artists in two-dimensional and three-dimensional mediums such as oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography, ceramic, wood, glass and metal. The gallery was founded in 1982, and moved to its present location in 1994. It is housed in a spacious original Florida Cottage, with Craftsman elements, that was originally built on the Gulf in 1915.
Hirdie Girdie Galley is also an artist cooperative, representing fifteen different artists who work in both two dimensional and three dimensional media. You will find an excellent selection of everything from watercolor and oil to pottery and woodworking. Hirdie Girdie Gallery has been an important part of the Sanibel arts world for 26 years.
Suncatchers’ Dream, owned by Daniel Moore Thompson, delights the senses with handmade wooden boxes, spectacular glass, painted steel drum, exclusive jewelery, kitchen accessories, tiles, candles, spinners, chimes, and suncatchers for the window or garden. His unique selection of gifts feature artists from Sanibel, as well as all over the US, and abroad.
