The American Society of Travel Agents recently conducted a survey based on travelers’ winter bookings for 2015. Called the 2014 Hot Spots for Winter survey, the results confirmed what Floridians already know – that Florida is a “hot spot” for winter visitors and is getting “hotter” every year. Orlando topped the list for winter visitors, while two other Florida cities rounded out the top ten: Miami at number 4 and Fort Myers at number 7. This coincides with some recent statistics from the Lee County Tourism Development Council that show November occupancy up 11% over the same month last year, and that almost 670,000 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport in November, a 4.8 % increase over November 2013.
