CROW Wildlife Walks
For those of you lucky enough to visit Sanibel Island in August, a treat awaits you. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, CROW Wildlife Clinic is welcoming visitors for an hour and a half to tour the CROW facility and learn about the rehabilitation methods used at CROW to help injured animals, and ultimately return them to their natural habitat. Sanibel is known as a wildlife sanctuary island, and what better way to get an inside look at some of Sanibel’s wildlife than to tour a facility like CROW.
CROW stands for Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, and its facility has been treating injured animals since 1968, in fact, over 100,000 of them! Wildlife walks are the best opportunity for visitors to get an in-depth look into the inner workings of the veterinary hospital and its treatment methods.
Wildlife Walks begin at 11:00 am and includes two parts: an introduction that covers the medical and rehabilitation processes used by the clinic and then a guided tour goes through the treatment areas of the hospital, ending on the rehabilitation grounds. Wildlife Walks last about 1 and ½ hours and are open to all. However, the tour is not recommended for children under the age of 13. Make sure to also leave time to visit the Education Center.
