Wondering what to do with all those shells Mother Nature bestows on the shores of Sanibel?
Shell Crafting Class is offered from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sanibel Community House during the late summer and early fall. Adults can make flower figures and younger folks can make animals. The class size is limited and based on first-come, first-served and attendees must be ready to start promptly at 10 a.m. Youngsters must be accompanied by an adult due to the complexity and dexterity required on the projects. There is a class fee that varies based on materials used, such as glues and wires.
Shell crafts also are available for sale at the Sanibel Community house weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, call the Community House at 239-472-2155.
Ocean Day Camp for Kids
Another fun-filled event for Mondays offers a great opportunity for youngsters, thanks to the Sanibel Sea School. Every Monday through late summer and early fall, children can attend Ocean Day Camp for Kids, during which two ocean subjects are offered. The first is covered in the morning, and the second in the afternoon following lunch. Everything is field-based and hands-on, whether it’s searching for sea horses or learning about waves by surfing.
