CROW Hosts Lunch and Learn
Viewing Sanibel’s wildlife, both on land and in the sea, is a main attraction for our visitors. The Clinic for Rehabilitation of Wildlife, known as CROW, is a leading Sanibel Island institution dedicated to the health and preservation of injured wild creatures throughout the region.
This winter, CROW’s Hospital Director Dr. Heather Barron will host a Lunch and Learn program on a series of Wednesdays. Each program costs $30 per person, which also includes a boxed lunch catered by the Sanibel Deli and general admission into CROW’s Education Center.
Dr. Barron has been Head Veterinarian and Hospital Director since 2011. She trained in exotic and wild animal medicine and surgery through a residency at the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine and later became an Associate Professor on the Zoological Medicine Service.
At the sessions, Dr. Barron will provide a brief overview of CROW and then open the floor to questions from attendees. After lunch and a question and answer session, those attending can tour the grounds and meet some of the animal ambassadors at CROW.
The lunch program typically accommodates about 15 and pre-registration is required by calling Education and Outreach Coordinator Rachel Rainbolt at CROW at 239-472-3644 ext. 222 or by emailing her at rrainbolt@crowclinic.org. Registration is open to everyone, but Lunch and Learn is not recommended for children under the age of thirteen.
