Sanibel Library Author Series

Sanibel Public LibraryA highlight of the winter season on Sanibel is the Author Series presented by the Sanibel Public Library. Visiting authors present a lecture and then answer questions posed by the audience.  For nine years, the library has been partnering with the Sanibel Public Library Foundation to bring in best-selling authors, and the events are always sell-outs.

Two authors are scheduled to speak in January, Debbie Macomber on Thursday, January 19th and Margaret Atwood on Wednesday, January 25th. Unfortunately, those events are sold out unless there are last-minute cancellations. However, Joanne Fluke is scheduled to speak on Monday, March 6th and ticket requests can be submitted online on Monday, February 6th at 9:00 am for 24 hours.

Names of those requesting tickets will be placed in a lottery and selected at random, and attendees will be notified by email. Tickets are available at no charge to Sanibel Public Library cardholders; one card per person; two tickets per card. The Author Series is not just for residents; for a $10 annual fee, island travelers can obtain a visitor library card.

Joanne Fluke is a New York Times best-selling author of more than twenty novels.  Fluke’s Hannah Swensen series has sold more than six million copies and her books have been translated into seven languages.  Fluke also writes mystery thrillers and young adult thriller mysteries, and she published a Holidays-in-Minnesota-themed cookbook in 2013.

The Sanibel Public Library is so thoroughly enjoyed by visitors that it has earned Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence for the past three years.  To learn more about the Author Series visit www.sanlib.org.
