FamilyFun magazine rates Sanibel #1!
Sanibel Island has the distinction of being honored as the Number One Travel Destination for Families, based on a readers’ poll of 2,000, conducted by FamilyFun magazine. Sanibel took first place honors for #1 tourist town, and the #1 destination overall! Announced on May 8th’s Today show, Sanibel was ranked as the #1 winner, ahead of such attractions as the Smithsonian’s Natural History and Air and Space Museums, as well as Omaha’s Zoo and Aquarium and the Indianapolis Children’s Museum.
Two thousand families traveling with children ages 3 – 12 were asked to rate destinations in five categories: top state parks, top animal attractions, most popular science museums, favorite tourist towns, and favorite casual restaurants. Sanibel ranked #1 tourist town, ahead of such spots as Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Savannah, Georgia.

Sandalfoot loves to welcome children of all ages, whether the first, second or third generation to enjoy shuffleboard, the pool, tennis, the beach, the lanai, the grills, or just hanging out! For the more adventuresome, there is biking, kayaking, or paddle-boarding. And, it is always important to remember that doing nothing is ok too!
